Driving Forward, Together: Why the Energy Surcharge?

Fair, Transparent, and Capped: How it works?

We believe you shouldn’t have to guess your shipping costs. Instead of arbitrary pricing, our pricing model is fully transparent, linked to a specific monthly billing period, and calculated based on independent market data.

Current Energy Surcharge

This surcharge is applied directly as a percentage of your base rates (excluding VAT/BTW) for the active billing period.

The Double-Index

The finalized index is mapped to a straightforward percentage-based surcharge, and based on the ratio of our fuel and electricity consumption.

Index Formula

①Based on the current operational energy consumption profile of the GOFO network and subject to periodic review.
②Current Fuel Price: Average Dutch Diesel Pump Price (€/liter) on corresponding month(Data source: https://opendata.cbs.nl/#/CBS/nl/dataset/81567NED/table?searchKeywords=pompprijs)
③Diesel baseline: Average Dutch Diesel Pump Price (€/liter) on Jan 2026 (Data source: https://opendata.cbs.nl/#/CBS/nl/dataset/81567NED/table?searchKeywords=pompprijs)
④Current Electricity Price: Variable supply rate contract prices (Euro/kWh)(Data source: https://opendata.cbs.nl/#/CBS/en/dataset/85592ENG/table)
⑤Electricity baseline: Variable supply rate contract prices (Euro/kWh) on Jan 2026 (Data source: https://opendata.cbs.nl/#/CBS/en/dataset/85592ENG/table)

Calculation Rule

An index value of 100 represents the baseline period. An Index value of 110 represents a 10% increase in combined energy costs versus the baseline.

Understanding Energy Trends: Fuel, Electricity, and Our Index

Below is the dynamic trend showing how current diesel prices, electricity prices, and our consolidated Energy Surcharge Index correlate over time:

GOFO Customer Protection Buffer

GOFO absorbs the first 5% increase in energy costs. No surcharge will be applied unless the Energy Index exceeds 105. This means GOFO shares the risk of normal market fluctuations with our customers.

Billing Notice

We believe in absolute predictability. Since CBS data is delayed by one month, the index and corresponding percentage surcharge we announce in June (based on May data) will apply to your July billing Period. This gives you a full month of advanced notice to plan and manage your shipping budget.

Driving Forward, Together: Why the Energy Surcharge?

The cost of operating a modern parcel network is influenced by both fuel and electricity prices. And the current fuel prices have increased significantly due to international politics. To ensure transparency and fairness, GOFO applies a monthly Energy Surcharge based on publicly available Dutch market data.

The surcharge helps offset fluctuations in transportation and operational energy costs while allowing us to continue investing in a reliable and sustainable delivery network.

GOFO reserves the right to review and adjust the methodology if significant changes occur in the structure of the GOFO delivery network or the availability of underlying market data.
