In the lead-up to World Cleanup Day, 14 GOFO employees and two Plastic Whale team members set out in two boats from Herenmarkt to give back to the local community.<\/p><p>For about 90 minutes, the GOFO team worked together with fishing nets, eager to collect the litter they spotted. Some of the smallest pieces only became visible as the boats moved across the water. Passersby stopped to watch and gave the team a thumbs-up. By the time the boats returned to Herenmarkt, the group had filled four large bags, mainly with plastic bottles, plastic bags, and aluminum cans.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3118b97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"3118b97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gofo.com\/nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/plastic-fishing-01-compatible.svg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-image-19143\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d330d9c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d330d9c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\nThe boats themselves showed what collected plastic can become: they were made using recycled plastic bottles. Plastic Whale also uses recycled plastic to make furniture, giving discarded materials a new purpose.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-322638b elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"322638b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gofo.com\/nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/plastic-fishing-02-compatible.svg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-image-19144\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83c994c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"83c994c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201cSeeing Amsterdam from the water gave me a new perspective on the city,\u201d said a GOFO employee. \u201cWorking together to clean the canals felt like a meaningful way to give back to the local community.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cWe organize up to three Plastic Fishing trips a day, yet we still collect litter on every trip,\u201d said a Plastic Whale team member. \u201cIt shows why these cleanups matter and why we all need to keep waste out of the water.\u201d<\/p><p>The activity is part of GOFO\u2019s ongoing commitment to its ESG goals. Following this year\u2019s Paris Run and Tree Planting activities, Plastic Fishing gave our team another opportunity to contribute to the local community and care for the environment.<br \/><br \/>Thank you to Plastic Whale and everyone who took part.
